Local PR Practitioners Get a View into Beijing's PR Industry

Singapore, 21 June 2006 – With support from IE Singapore, the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore (IPRS) will be leading a group of about 10 local PR practitioners to Beijing from 22 to 26 June to attend the China International Public Relations Congress 2006 and to network with the local PR agencies and media. This is IPRS’ second business mission to China following a very successful visit to Shanghai in 2004.

As Beijing and Shanghai set themselves to host the Summer Olympics in 2008 and World Expo in 2010 respectively, there has never been a better time for PR practitioners to get to know China’s business environment.

Ms K Bhavani, President of IPRS said " The aim of the trip is two-fold.  It provides senior practitioners with an opportunity to build strategic relationships with the Beijing media as well as to establish links with the national  government and private organisations.  It is also a good platform to promote the capabilities of the Singapore PR professionals.”

The business delegation comprises of PR practitioners from organizations like W.R. Grace, Singapore Exchange, Singapore Management University and Ministry of Information, Communications and The Arts.

Participants of the trip will attend the China International PR Congress from 22 to 24 June. Organised by the China International Public Relations Association (CIPRA), the theme for this year’s conference is ‘Breakthrough and Innovation.’  Discussion topics will focus on development trends in the global PR industry with briefings on the opportunities and challenges of the PR landscape in China.

Speakers at the conference include Mr. Wang Guoqing, Deputy Director of News Office of the State Council; Mr. Grapp Robert, President of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA); Mr. Jiang Xiaoyu, Vice Executive Chairman of the Beijing Olympics Committee; Mr. Li Dongsheng, President of TCL Group and Mr. Ray Kotcher, CEO of Ketchum Newscan.

The itinerary also includes visits to media organizations – print, broadcast and online. Networking sessions and visits to local PR consultancies in Beijing have also been arranged.
