1. What is the WSQ PnT PR Apprenticeship Programme?
The 7-month WSQ PnT PR Apprenticeship Programme comprises of a WSQ classroom training programme and an on-the job training component.
2. Who is eligible to apply?
- Fresh graduates and individuals who have either no experience or background in PR or graduated with PR related courses but having trouble looking for a job in the PR industry.
- Individuals formerly holding Professional, Managerial, Executive (PME) positions who want to switch careers and enter the PR industry
- Only trainees who are either Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents above 21 years of age are eligible to participate in the programme. Male trainees must have completed national service before enrolling in the programme.
3. I used to work in the PR industry but I have not been working or I am currently not working in the industry. I would like to re-enter the PR industry. Am I eligible to apply for WSQ PnT Programme?
No, you are not eligible as you already had prior working experiences in the PR industry. However, there are WSQ Modular Courses you can consider to upgrade your skills.
4. How does the employer-employee matching process work?
Interested employers and employees apply directly to IPRS.
IPRS will match the applications of the employees with the roles that the employers want to hire for and forward the resumes of shortlisted candidates to participating employers. These employers will arrange for an interview with the candidates and inform IPRS of their selected candidate.
5. Can I apply for the programme with an employer which has already interviewed and agreed to hire me?
No. The employer-employee matching process must be done via IPRS.
6. Will I receive a salary throughout the 7-month WSQ PnT Programme?
Yes, a salary will be paid for the duration of the 7-month WSQ PnT Programme.
7. What is the usual salary of a PR Executive?
The usual salary of a PR Executive can range from $1,500 to $2,000 and/or above.
8. As an employee, do I need to pay any fees?
No, the employee does not have to pay any fees. The course fees are partially-subsidised by Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and employer-sponsored.
9. What is the funding like for the WSQ PnT programme?
The sponsoring employer will need to pay a course fee of $ 2,100 (after WDA’s funding). Additionally, the sponsoring employer is entitled to a salary defrayment of up to $1,400* for each participant per month for seven months of the WSQ PnT Programme. (*Terms and Conditions apply)
10. What are the WSQ PnT modules that I will attend during the classroom training?
The five WSQ PnT modules that the employees must complete are:
i. WSQ Formulate, Coordinate and Evaluate PR Communications
ii. WSQ Manage Media Relations
iii. WSQ Plan, Develop and Support Crisis Communications
iv. WSQ Develop Integrated Marketing Communications for a specific event
v. WSQ Manage Events.
11. Will I receive any certification upon completion of the WSQ PnT Programme?
Upon successful completion of the WSQ PnT Programme, you will be conferred by WDA with a WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) for each of the five (5) WSQ PnT modules.
12. Will I be bonded to the sponsoring company?
The employee must be committed to be bonded to his/her sponsoring organisation for the seven (7) month duration of the WSQ PnT Programme and for a subsequent seven (7) months after the completion of the WSQ PnT Programme.
- Upon receipt of the LOU and training fee, IPRS will inform the employer of the details of the training for the WSQ PnT Programme and other related activities.
