An Accredited Member shall have demonstrated broad knowledge, experience and professional judgement in the field through an accreditation process and shall hold the accreditation for a period of two years. During the two years, the Member has to attain a requisite number of Continuing Professional Education points in order to qualify for reaccreditation.

An Accredited Member shall be entitled to use the AMIPRS designation and has voting rights in the affairs of the Institute.

Steps in Getting Accreditation

The accreditation process consists of a written test and an oral examination that measure the candidate's knowledge and competence in the practice of public relations. The written exam tests the candidate's understanding of ethical conduct, history of the profession and ability to quickly evaluate a business situation and develop a comprehensive plan.

After Accreditation

PR practitioners who have successfully completed the accreditation process will be recognised as an Accredited Public Relations practitioner and are authorized to use the "AMIPRS" designation.

They will hold the accreditation for a period of two years and have to dedicate themselves to enhancing their profession by remaining current in their field through the Continuing Professional Education (CPE). They have to maintain a minimum requirement of 30 CPE points (through the attendance of PR related conferences, courses and programmes organised by the Institute and its equivalent) for two years in order to qualify for re-accreditation.

Unsuccessful Applicants

For applicants whom the Accreditation Board feels lack the experience and competence to be accredited, a feedback and suggestion report will be sent to the applicant. These applicants may appeal to the Institute, in writing, within two months from the date of notice. An Appeal Committee will review the applicant's results and his/her eligibility.
